Modern Kitchen With A View

The Challenge

Jo was looking for a modern, handle-less kitchen so that surface fronts were not broken up by visible handle elements, this gives a kitchen a particularly calm, elegant and modern look.
She was also looking at maximising storage space and wanted a deep sink.
Jo was also keen to incorporate a separate area for her loved cats, which was to store their food and treats along with the place they would eat.

The Solution

To deliver the handle-less kitchen Jo was after, we used reverse finger-pull cabinetry and on the tall pantry units, we had handles powder coated to match the dark grey cabinetry.
To maximise storage, we incorporated soft closing kickboard drawers. The design also made the most of the amazing views and outlook towards Petone and Eastbourne– what a great way to wash up, looking out over the harbour.
A small cabinetry unit and benchtop was included for the beloved cats.

The Results

This elegant kitchen is spray-painted high gloss white with contrasting matt grey cabinetry. The striking metro light grey composite stone bench-top adds an element of class. The bench-top is engineered stone made up of approximately 95% quartz (crushed stone) and 5% resin and colour pigments. It provides exceptional results in strength, hardiness, durability, stain resistance, colour and design. It is also incredibly consistent and comes in more neutral colours. The far wall is covered in white subway tiles to create a very fancy, inviting and modern kitchen.

Kitchen design to take advantage of the amazing view

I approached Capital Kitchens and Interiors after a number of unsuccessful meetings with other kitchen suppliers  (too expensive, wrong designs, inflexible timeframes). Capital Kitchens and Interiors was then recommended by a friend who had a small “facelift” done on their kitchen and the results were great.

My existing kitchen had a number of problems typical of houses built in the 1970’s;  it was too small, lacked usable storage, there was no ergonomic flow and worst of all… no dishwasher.  I had a design in mind of how the problems could be solved.  Bruce was great – he worked with me to refine my ideas and turn them into a perfect plan. Once the kitchen was installed, the results were fantastic.  Better than I could have imagined. I have a beautiful, organised, functional kitchen which makes me happy every day.

Dealing with Bruce was easy.  He was accommodating and patient.  He didn’t mind that I changed my mind on the kitchen handles 3 times before I made the decision. And the quality of his work is exceptional.  He is precise and pays very close attention to detail.

I would recommend Capital Kitchens and Interiors to anyone who is thinking of renovating a kitchen.
